Where Are My Test Results Or Referrals?

Believe me, I do not like to hoard labs and I generally review all test results that are sent to me within 1-2 days.  You may not have received your test results because of several reasons.  1.)  I have not received them, so please call us if you have not heard back from our office within 1-2 weeks after having your blood drawn so that my staff may call the lab to obtain your results.  2.)  My staff will try calling the phone number you have left as your contact number.  If they do not speak to you directly or someone that you have down as a contact person, they will then send you results in the mail which can take up to 2 weeks depending how lousy the mail system is.

Our referral department, which consists of two wonderful women, works very hard to generate referrals for TEN providers.  That being said, referrals are generated based on the urgency of the situation.  If the referral is urgent, this will be done within 1-2 days, and the nonurgent referrals may take up to 2 weeks.  Many insurance companies require prior authorizations in order for you to go to physical therapy, certain specialists, or obtain radiologic studies such as MRIs, and I’ve found that this can slow the process an addition 2-4 weeks.  Finally, mail delivery can take up to 2 weeks as all unstamped mail goes to a central Carondelet location, postage is applied, and the mail then goes out once again.  Please let me know if you’d rather be called to pick up a referral rather than have this mailed to you.
